How do you get an international driving license?

Get your international driving permit through AAA. When accompanied by a valid US driver license, an IDP allows you to drive abroad. Your IDP is a valid form of identification in 150 countries worldwide and contains your name, photo and driver information.

Your drivers license must be valid for a minimum of six months beyond the IDP issue date. To apply, complete an international driving permit application. You can download one from either the AAA's or National Automobile Club's websites. Complete the application, making sure to sign it.

Where can I get an international license?

You don't have to be a member of AAA or AATA to obtain an international driver's license from that organization. You can apply in person at your local AAA branch. You can find your local AAA office here. Alternatively, you can mail the application and supporting documentation to the AAA or AATA.
